I Didn't Even Know Her Name

DO ME A FAVOR

Have you ever
dissected a frog?
It's very simple to do.

One neat cut
down the tender belly.
Then you bend it back,
over your index finger,
tucking the legs
out and around.
All of the frog
will pop forward
for your scrutiny.
And you can diagram
in shades of red and blue
what makes the frog a frog.

Come, try it. It's so simple,
so very, very simple.
The cut has already
been made.
Come, all that's left,
is to bend me backwards
over your index finger.
