Jennifer McLune "laid off" email and the replies from oob sent to her
"After being laid off, feeling completely shocked, vulnerable, self-doubting, and depressed I reached out to people I had known for months, who I thought would at least reach back with a kind word of encouragement. Instead what I got from my white 'radical ' feminist sisters was stone-cold silence. " ~~Jennifer McLune
Remember the charges of racism against oob were laid out by Jennifer McClune when she claimed that no member of the oob collective responded to her when she sent out a mass-email to say that she lost her job? She said she was a black woman frozen out of a WHITE SUPREMACIST environment by a collective of "white evil heifers" who coldly and inhumanely isolated her from the group. However, this is simply not true.
Two out of four collective members Laura Butterbaugh and Angie Manzano did send her emails when she lost her job. Laura wrote "Jenn, I am sorry about you being laid off. That really sucks. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I used to work for Collier Shannon and at Patton Boggs but that was a long time ago so not sure if that would be of any help." Angie Manzano wrote: "So sorry to hear this. It is horrible that they gave you no warning. Maybe you can try to get severance package? Make sure to apply for unemployment insurance as well. Take care" They not only wrote but they were attempting to help her with ideas about how to get another job and take care of herself financiall. And just look at what they got from Jennifer for her consideration. Karla Mantilla did not reply for the reasons stated in her statement.
Jennifer's defense of the existence of these emails is that they could be forged because she never got them. In this screen print she created this elementary and pretty pathetic example to show what a forged email can look like.
Yes emails can be forged easily and that is exactly what I said when I was first told that screen prints of the emails from oob were available. I felt it would not prove anything but I asked to see them anyway. Yeah they can be forged. However when I saw these, as a graphic designer and someone very competent in Photoshop, I can verify that it would be nearly impossible to forge these emails as they appear in the screen shots that Angie has supplied without the creator having exceptional skills. I sure wouldn't want to have to do this type of a forgery, even to show it could be done, because of the time it would take to do it effectively from scratch. I'm not even sure I could do it.
Milla has now written that she does believe that the oob collective members did send these emails to Jennifer. But essentially Milla says, so what; that she will go on believing what she does because of what she knows about organizations and that she will continue believing Jennifer and others accounts about the oob collective. However for reasonable people these two emails do present a real problem for those who truly want to believe Jennifer McLune. So there is only this one last possibility and that is that Jennifer did not receive the emails which is what she claims. Maybe not getting or seeing one email, but not two in two different days. It is just not plausible. ~~Nikki Craft, 01.08.09
